Working Principle and Application

 

Working Principle:

The main part of the ball mill, the "cylinder," is installed on one or two large bearings. The selected equipment varies according to different grinding conditions. Some ball mills are single-chamber ball mills, while others are two-chamber or multi-chamber ball mills, but their basic working principles are the same. The material enters the cylinder through the feeding hopper of the ball mill and is ground by grinding media of a certain shape and size inside the cylinder. When the ball mill rotates, the grinding media adhere to the lining plate surface of the cylinder under the action of centrifugal force and friction force with the lining plate surface, rotate with the cylinder, and are lifted to a certain height. Under the action of gravity, they fall freely and impact the bottom material like projectiles, crushing the material. The cycle of rising and falling of the grinding media is repeated. In addition, during the rotation of the ball mill, the media inside the cylinder will also slide and roll, so that the grinding media, lining plate, and material will be ground, achieving fine grinding. As the material is continuously fed, there is a material surface difference between the material at the feeding end and the material at the discharging end, which forces the material to flow. Moreover, when the grinding media fall and impact the material, axial thrust is generated, which also forces the material to flow. At the same time, the airflow inside the ball mill also helps the material to flow until it reaches the discharge port, completing the grinding operation.
